She was new in my life. She was young, fast, a real thoroughbred. I am older, wiser, more experienced, but could I live up to the months of anticipation and unspoken expectations?
I was nervous. I wanted our first time to be special.
I took her outside and mounted her. We started slowly, so as not to "crash and burn" right out of the starting gate. The early going was a bit awkward, but we soon settled in and moved together in a synchronous, choreographed dance. As I pumped harder, she responded instantly. At times, I had to stand up and ride her as hard as I could.
At the end, I was tired, but utterly satisfied. She was silent. She knew what she was capable of and she quietly, almost smugly, delivered.
I hung her from a hook in the garage and went inside for a nice dinner with my beautiful wife.
My first ride with my new Cannondale Slice bicycle was a huge success. We look forward to many happy years together.
